Doug Campbell is Managing Director at Blue Star Strategies, LLC, where he provides strategic counsel to a wide range of clients, including international companies and nonprofits. , Doug’s core services include assisting clients in navigating the U.S. Congress, assessing the impact of legislation on client objectives, strategic planning to advance specific legislation, and general policy advocacy.
Prior to joining Blue Star, Doug spent more than 27 years on Capitol Hill, including 12 years as Deputy Staff Director of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. In this role, he offered guidance to the committee Chairman and other Members of Congress on a wide array of foreign policy, national security, and international economic matters. He successfully executed strategies to advance key policy priorities in a bipartisan manner, fostering close relationships with crucial stakeholders in the Executive Branch, private sector, foreign governments, think tanks, and NGOs. Before joining the Committee, Doug served as Legislative Director for Congressman Howard L. Berman of California and worked as an international trade analyst at the U.S. Department of Commerce.
A native of southern California, Doug earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley and an M.A. in International Relations from Yale University. He is married with two daughters and enjoys hiking, sailing, and international travel.
