Armenia

On June 7, Armenia held parliamentary elections to elect the 101 members of the National Assembly. As expected by pre-election polls, the ruling pro-European Civil Contract party, led by incumbent Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, won 49% of the vote, securing enough seats in parliament (64) to form a government. In second place, pro-Russian party Strong Armenia, created in December 2025 by the Armenian billionaire Samvel Karapetyan, obtained 24% of the vote, representing 29 seats in the National Assembly. In third place, the nationalist Armenia Alliance underperformed, winning 9% of the vote and losing 17 seats.

PM Pashinyan pledges to deepen Armenia’s relations with the European Union and the United States, implement reforms required to qualify for EU membership, and reducing its dependence on Russia. His domestic agenda proposes the adoption of a new Constitution, strengthen institutions, continue anti-corruption measures and improve overall living standards. Pashinyan has unveiled a Real Armenia vision as a new ideological framework for the country’s institutional and economic transformation, as well as the normalization of relations with its neighbors: Azerbaijan and Turkey. The unicameral National Assembly is elected for a five-year term.
