Blue Star Strategies, LLC is currently accepting applications for Winter 2023 and Fall 2024 Intern Candidates to support our team and clients. We also encourage qualified associate candidates with a master's degree or industry expertise to submit a cover letter with their resume for consideration.
Many of our clients are U.S. companies, international businesses, and global organizations seeking services abroad in more than 30 countries, with a focus on Europe and Latin America. The industry sectors in which we work include, but are not limited to, financial services, hospitality, energy, multilateral organizations, pharmaceuticals, and telecommunications.
With access to the firm's senior partners, this opportunity allows for substantive work on major projects.
Previous communications and social media work experience is preferred. The firm is also seeking applicants with prior Capitol Hill experience and language proficiency in Spanish, and/or an Eastern European language.
INTERNSHIP
We offer a dynamic, hands-on internship on a rotating, year-round basis for recent college graduates, graduate students and those with a Master's degree in foreign affairs, international business, or another relevant field.
The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, based in our Washington, DC office, with occasional remote work permitted. Minimum monthly stipend = $2,400 (for interns with a B.A) and $2,600 (for interns with M.A.).
Seasonal Internship Calendar:
- Winter/Spring: January-April
- Summer: May-July
- Fall: September-December
Responsibilities/Qualifications include:
- Recent college graduates, graduate students or those with a Master’s degree in foreign affairs, international business, or similar field.
- Must be based in Washington, D.C. and able to work in our offices from Monday through Friday.
- Substantive research and written assignments for principals, clients, and partners
- Attendance at and reportage of internal and external meetings, hearings, and events on behalf of the firm and its clients, including the U.S. Congress, Executive Branch, think tanks, international financial institutions, and foreign embassies
- Preparation of briefing materials and presentations for our clients.
- Knowledge of the U.S. political system and current world affairs.
- Superb writing, research, and analytical skills.
- Prior intern experience, including Congress, Executive branch agencies, nonprofit and multilateral organizations, private sector.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat, Canva, or C++ preferred.
- Some administrative experience with scheduling, management of internal meetings.
- Fluency in English and professional proficiency in another language. Spanish and/or an Eastern European language preferred.

FULL-TIME ASSOCIATE POSITION
We offer a dynamic, challenging associate position. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, based in our Washington, DC office, with occasional remote work permitted after the first 3 months of employment of employment. Benefits, include health insurance (medical and dental), 401(k) profit-sharing plan, vacation, and sick leave. Salary commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting substantive research, writing memos, comprehensive and substantive reports, and other products, and reporting the results to the company's principals, staff, clients, and firm business partners.
- Participating in meetings with clients and external stakeholders.
- Attendance at and reportage of internal and external meetings, hearings, and events on behalf of the firm and its clients, including the U.S. Congress, Executive Branch, think tanks, international financial institutions, and foreign embassies
- Monitoring domestic and foreign political and cross-sector regulatory developments.
- Preparing briefing materials and presentations for clients.
- Managing the firm's newsletter and aspects of its social media presence.
Preferred Associate Qualifications:
- A college graduate with prior work experience, graduate student, or someone with a Master's degree in foreign affairs, international business, or another relevant field.
- Must be based in Washington, D.C. and able to work in the office from Monday through Friday.
- Superb writing, research, analytical, critical thinking, spoken and organization skills.
- Interest in working in a dynamic and collegial environment on public policy and regulation in various domestic and international sectors such as finance, health, energy, IT, and others.
- Ability and desire to work as part of team.
- Knowledge of the U.S. political system and the policy-making process and general knowledge of current world affairs.
- Prior experience in government, international relations, communications, government, international affairs or market research and analysis desired.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat, Canva, or C++ preferred.
- Some administrative experience including internal and external scheduling, and expensing management.
- Fluency in English and professional proficiency in another language. Spanish and/or an Eastern European language preferred.
